Keeping a Brew Log
Why The Cellar exists — capture what happened, not only what you planned.
A brew log records the batch: brew day, fermentation, gravity readings, packaging, and notes. It is tied to a variant but is not the recipe itself.
What to capture
- Planned vs actual volumes and gravities
- Yeast pitch and fermentation temperature
- Deviations (missed hop, longer boil, different water)
- Packaging: keg or bottle, priming, carbonation
Why it matters
Recipes improve when you can compare intended stats to measured ones. The Cellar keeps active fermentations visible and archives packaged batches so history stays readable.
